Kris Kristofferson performed Thursday night (Nov. 8) at Nashville’s Bluebird Cafe during a private event officially announcing that the legendary club is being purchased by the Nashville Songwriters Association International. Bluebird Cafe founder Amy Kurland will relinquish ownership of the venue on Jan. 1. NSAI is a trade organization that promotes the songwriting profession, protects the rights of songwriters and educates aspiring talent. During Thursday’s appearance at the 96-seat club, Kristofferson performed with several musicians who have played in his band through the years, including Donnie Fritts, Billy Swan and Stephen Bruton. One of Kristofferson’s longtime friends, singer-songwriter Chris Gantry, also performed during the show.
