Actor John C. Reilly performed a Saturday night (Dec. 8) concert at Nashville’s Mercy Lounge after screening his new film, Walk Hard: The Dewey Cox Story, at a local theater. Reilly stars and sings in the film which parodies several music biopics, including Walk the Line. At the screening, Reilly greeted the audience and invited them to the concert featuring his band, the Hard Walkers. He and the musicians have embarked on their Cox Across America 2007 tour to promote the film that opens nationally in theaters on Dec. 21. At Saturday’s show, Reilly remained in character throughout the two-hour concert. Singer-songwriter Holly Williams, Hank Williams Jr.’s daughter, made a surprise appearance and joined Reilly onstage for the song, “Let’s Duet.” Reilly’s film credits include Talladega Nights: The Ballad of Ricky Bobby, Chicago and The Aviator.
