Country Music Hall of Fame member Charley Pride will receive the Mississippi Arts Commission’s lifetime achievement award during ceremonies on Feb. 8 in Jackson, Miss. A native of Sledge, Miss., Pride is the only performer honored this year during the organization’s Governor’s Awards for Excellence in the Arts. Pride scored 29 No. 1 singles for RCA during the ’60s, ’70s and ’80s. He was inducted into the Country Music Hall of Fame in 2000.
