Former Grand Ole Opry Star Bobby Lord Dead at 74

Country singer and television personality Bobby Lord died Saturday (Feb. 16) at a hospital in Stuart, Fla., near his home in Jensen Beach, after a lengthy illness. He was 74. Known most widely through his syndicated TV program, The Bobby Lord Show (which launched from Nashville in 1965), Lord was earlier a member of the Ozark Jubilee. He joined the Grand Ole Opry in 1960 and remained a regular on that show until 1975. During the late 1980s, he hosted the Celebrity Outdoors series on TNN: The Nashville Network. Lord recorded for the Columbia, Hickory and Decca Records labels, where, between 1956 and 1971, he charted such hits as "Without Your Love," "Life Can Have Meaning," "Rainbow Girl" "You and Me Against the World" and "Wake Me Up Early in the Morning." He is survived by his wife, Mozelle, daughter Sarah Williams and sons Cabot and Robert.
