Memorial Service Set for Guitarist Barry "Byrd" Burton

A memorial service will be held Saturday (March 15) in Hendersonville, Tenn., for guitarist Barry "Byrd" Burton, 61, who died Monday (March 10) at a Nashville hospital following a lengthy battle with leukemia. As a member of the Amazing Rhythm Aces, he played the signature guitar licks on the band's biggest hit, 1975's "Third Rate Romance." His versatility on electric, acoustic and steel guitar led to tours in the bands of Dolly Parton, Brooks & Dunn and Dan Fogelberg, in addition to a successful career as a studio musician. He played on Don Williams' recording of "Tulsa Time" and on albums by Emmylou Harris, Nanci Griffith, the Oak Ridge Boys and many others.
