Randy Owen Honored for Work With St. Jude Children's Hospital

Randy Owen, lead vocalist for Alabama, will be honored on May 13 in Washington, D.C., for his work with St. Jude Children's Research Hospital. He will accept the Paul G. Rogers Public Service Award from the Friends of the National Library of Medicine. Owen helped start the Country Cares for St. Jude Kids program in 1989 after meeting St. Jude founder Danny Thomas. The program has become one of the most successful radio fundraising events in the country with $315 million in pledges for the hospital to date.
