Shel Silverstein’s Country Album Reissued

Shel Silverstein’s 1969 country album, A Boy Named Sue, has been reissued on CD for the first time by Water Records. Silverstein recorded the album in Nashville with producer Chet Atkins. The title track went on to become a classic hit for Johnny Cash. One of Silverstein’s most-requested books, Don’t Bump the Glump! and Other Fantasies, has also been reissued. The author of books such as The Giving Tree and Where the Sidewalk Ends, Silverstein died in 1999. Other songwriting credits include Loretta Lynn’s “One’s on the Way” and Dr. Hook & the Medicine Show’s “The Cover of the Rolling Stone” and “Sylvia’s Mother.”
