Faith Hill’s Christmas album, Joy to the World, will be released Sept. 16, it was announced Monday (June 16). Ten of the 11 tracks are holiday standards, including “What Child Is This,” “O Holy Night,” “Santa Claus Is Coming to Town” and “Winter Wonderland.” The album includes one new song, “A Baby Changes Everything,” written by Nashville songwriters Tim Nichols, Craig Wiseman and K.K. Wiseman. The project features the Nashville Symphony and two London-based choirs — Metro Voices and the London Oratory School Boys Choir. Orchestrations were provided by Grammy-winning conductor and arranger David Campbell, whose credits include Hill’s “Cry” and projects with Paul McCartney, the Rolling Stones, Mariah Carey and others. “I had a very clear vision for the type of Christmas album that I wanted to make, indicative of the big band orchestras of the ’40s and ’50s, with a full complement of horns, strings, woodwinds, percussion and chorales,” Hill said. “David’s orchestrations were a gift. They embodied everything that I could have imagined — unique and beautiful, and yet they seem as though they were always intended for these songs.” Hill co-produced the album with Dann Huff and Byron Gallimore.
