Kristy Lee Cook, a finalist on American Idol‘s seventh season, has signed a record deal with 19 Recordings/Arista Nashville, a label under the Sony BMG Nashville umbrella. Her first single, “15 Minutes of Shame,” is expected in August, with an album produced by songwriter Brett James to be released in the fall. “I’ve wanted this for so many years,” Cook said. “To have the chance to be a country singer, to make the music I love and to have enjoyed the support of so many American Idol fans this past season, it all means more than I can put into words. Thank you so much to everyone. I’ll do my best to make you proud!” Fellow Idol contestants Kellie Pickler and Carrie Underwood are also on the Sony BMG roster in conjunction with 19 Recordings.
