Fried Okra

Fried Okra

Fixed some recently. Yummy.

2 pounds okra
½ cup cornmeal
½ cup flour
1 teaspoon salt
½ teaspoon pepper
cooking oil (I use Canola.)

Wash and cut ends off pods. Slice okra about ¼ inch thick. Dip in evaporated milk. Mix meal and flour with salt and pepper in a quart size plastic bag that zips. Place okra in bag with cornmeal, flour, etc. Shake until well coated. Pour ½ inch oil in fry pan. When hot (but not smoking), add okra. Cook until golden brown. Drain on paper towels.
