Vern Gosdin Preparing '40 Years of the Voice'

Vern Gosdin is preparing the November release of 40 Years of the Voice, a four-CD career retrospective. The boxed set on VGM Records will feature 101 songs, including 14 tracks previously-unreleased tracks recorded 35 years ago. The collection will also offer 11 newly-recorded songs, as well as hits such as "Chiseled in Stone," "Set'em Up Joe," "Today My World Slipped Away" and "I Can Tell by the Way You Dance." Gosdin and his brother, Rex, moved to California in 1961 and joined the Golden State Boys, a bluegrass band that evolved into the Hillmen featuring future Byrds member Chris Hillman. As a solo artist, Gosdin charted more than 15 Top 10 singles during the '70s and '80s.
