Craig Morgan will become the newest member of the Grand Ole Opry during ceremonies on Oct. 25 in Nashville. Opry member John Conlee surprised Morgan by extending the invitation Thursday night (Sept. 18) during a special concert for U.S. troops at Fort Bragg near Fayetteville, N.C. Conlee walked onstage during Morgan’s performance of “Rose Colored Glasses,” a Top 10 hit for Conlee in 1978. Morgan was stationed at Fort Bragg from 1990 to 1992 during his 10-year active duty tenure in the U.S. Army’s 82nd Airborne Division. Morgan’s own Top 10 hits include “Almost Home” and “Redneck Yacht Club.” His recording of “That’s What I Love About Sunday” spent four weeks at No. 1 on Billboard’s country chart in 2004. His fifth album, That’s Why, will be released Oct. 21 by Sony BMG.
