SESAC, the performance rights organization, threw a party at its Nashville offices Tuesday (Sept. 30) to celebrate the chart success of the Grascals’ current album, Keep on Walkin’, which has spent five weeks atop Billboard’s bluegrass chart. For the past two years, the six-man band has also won the International Bluegrass Music Association’s entertainer of the year prize and is up again for that distinction at Thursday night’s (Oct. 2) awards show. “We ain’t done yet,” band spokesman Jamie Johnson told the crowd. “We’re having the time of our lives, I promise. We have three albums down and about 15 more coming — then the greatest hits and a boxed set.” After the Grascals accepted their awards, they handed out plaques of their own to more than a dozen people who had aided their career.
