Small Building Will Stay Amid New $70 Million Music Row Offices

A small, existing building will be integrated among a new office tower on Nashville’s Music Row, closing a battle of eminent domain between the landowner and the developer. Joy Ford, who owns operates Country International Records, will give up some of her land behind the building to allow Lionstone Group to build the $70 million project at the northern end of Music Row. In exchange, Ford will be given a slightly larger parcel of land nearby. The Metropolitan Development and Housing Agency had tried to convince the Circuit Court of Davidson County that the property was blighted and thus available for seizure, but Ford’s attorneys argued that state law does not allow eminent domain to be used for private development.
