Garth Brooks, Rascal Flatts, Carrie Underwood Among AMA Nominees

Garth Brooks, Rascal Flatts and Carrie Underwood lead the list of nominees in the country categories of the 2008 American Music Awards. Awards show host Jimmy Kimmel joined Julianne Hough and Jesse McCartney to announce the nominees Tuesday (Oct. 14) in Los Angeles. Brooks, Underwood and Rascal Flatts were respectively nominated for favorite male country artist, female country artist and country band, duo or group. Additionally, favorite country album nominations went to Brooks' The Ultimate Hits, Underwood's Carnival Ride and Rascal Flatts' Still Feels Good. Brad Paisley and Kenny Chesney are also nominated in the male country artist category, and Taylor Swift and Carrie Underwood are up for female country artist. Brooks & Dunn and Sugarland join Rascal Flatts in the band, duo or group division. Kid Rock is nominated for favorite male artist in the pop/rock field. The Eagles are nominated for overall artist of the year and received three other nominations in the pop/rock and adult contemporary categories. Fan voting is underway at the American Music Awards Web site, www.amavote.com, and the winners will be announced Nov. 23 during ABC's live broadcast of the awards show at the Nokia Theatre in Los Angeles.
