Heavy Metal Bassist Sues "Country Western" Singer-Songwriter John Rich

It took less than a month for Jerry Montano, former bassist in the heavy metal band Danzig, to file a lawsuit against John Rich in connection with a fight at the Mondrian Hotel in West Hollywood, Calif. Montano's attorneys are seeking a jury trial after filing the assault and battery complaint earlier this week in Los Angeles Superior Court. The altercation took place in the early morning hours of Oct. 17 after Rich allegedly had a disagreement with a woman in his hotel room. Montano alleges that Rich threw a drinking glass at him, nearly striking him in the face, and that when he tried to escape, Rich then struck him with his fist, ring and another drinking glass. Montano who is seeking unspecified damages, claims he received "serious injuries" and "permanent scarring" to his face, lips, jaw and nose. In the lawsuit, Montano's attorneys refer to Rich as "a famous country western singer-songwriter."
