Tomato Soup

Good hot soup on a cold day. Nothing’s better.

3 tablespoons butter
2 tablespoons flour
2 cups tomato juice
1/8 teaspoon soda
1 teaspoon salt
3 cups milk
½ teaspoon finely chopped onion

Melt butter in a heavy saucepan with flour. Add onion, tomato juice, soda and salt and cook slowly for about 5 minutes, stirring constantly. Add milk slowly and heat until quite hot.
