Doug Stone Arrested for Domestic Violence Against Adult Son

Singer Doug Stone, who charted four No. 1 country hits in the ’90s, is free on $3,000 bond after being arrested early Thursday morning (April 9) in Florida on a domestic battery charge following an altercation with his 21-year-old son, Dustin Brooks, who is a member of his touring band. Stone, 52, performed Wednesday night in Panama City Beach during a surprise appearance at Tootsie’s Orchid Lounge. Officers responded to a call at a local resort around 3:30 a.m. after Stone and his son began arguing about a car they were using in Florida. He was arrested by Panama City Beach Police and placed in the Bay County Jail. Stone, who was born Douglas Brooks, gained national attention in the ’90s with hits such as “I’d Be Better Off (In a Pinebox),” “A Jukebox With a Country Song,” “Too Busy Being in Love” and “Why Didn’t I Think of That.”
