Randy Travis Wins Eighth Dove Award

Randy TravisAround the Bend was named country album of the year at the Gospel Music Association’s 40th annual Dove Awards held Thursday night (April 23) at the Grand Ole Opry House in Nashville. The album, produced by Kyle Lehning, marks Travis’ eighth Dove trophy. “I Wish,” recorded by Point of Grace and written by Cindy Morgan and Phil Madeira, won in the country recorded song category. We Are Family, featuring Jeff and Sheri Easter, Lewis Family and the Easter Brothers, was named bluegrass album of the year. One of the album’s tracks, “They’re Holding Up the Ladder,” resulted in a bluegrass recorded song win for Russell Easter, James Easter and Edd Easter. Contemporary Christian music veteran Steven Curtis Chapman won in the artist and songwriter of the year categories as the top winner at the awards presentation.
