The Broadway musical version of Dolly Parton’s 9 to 5 has earned four Tony nominations. Parton earned a nomination for best original score (music and/or lyrics) written for the theater. 9 to 5: The Musical also garnered nominations for best performance by a leading actress in a musical (Allison Janney), best performance by a featured actor in a musical (Marc Kudisch) and best choreography (Andy Blankenbuehler). The musical opened April 30 at the Marquis Theatre. “It’s a long way from Locust Ridge, Tenn., to Broadway!” Parton said. “I’m just so proud to be here and to be nominated for a Tony for writing the score for 9 to 5: The Musical. It’s a wonderful show, and I’m proud to be part of it. Thank God, and thank you.”
