Lynyrd Skynyrd Bassist Ean Evans Succumbs to Cancer

Lynyrd Skynyrd bassist Donald "Ean" Evans, 48, died Wednesday (May 6) at his home in Columbus, Miss., following a battle with cancer. He joined Lynyrd Skynyrd in 2001 following the death of the band's longtime bassist, Leon Wilkeson. Evans continued to tour with the band until being diagnosed with cancer in 2008. His musical career included a stint with the Outlaws in the late '80s and early '90s with guitarist Hughie Thomasson. The two musicians played together in Lynyrd Skynrd until Thomasson's death in 2007. Skynyrd keyboardist Billy Powell died in January.
