6 to 8 Granny Smith apples
2 tablespoons butter
grease from 4 slices bacon
2 cups sugar
Fry bacon in a large frying pan. Set bacon aside to use later. Wash apples. Quarter, then slice into bite-size pieces. Place apples in pan with grease. Add butter and sugar. Cover pan and allow apples to cook until soft.
We serve this as a side dish. However, there are those who think it’s dessert.
