Steve Martin Plays Surprise Show at Station Inn After IBMA Awards

Steve Martin played a surprise show at the Station Inn, a well-known bluegrass venue in Nashville, on Thursday night (Oct. 1) following the International Bluegrass Music Association Awards. Martin, who released a bluegrass album called The Crow: New Songs for the Five-String Banjo earlier this year, was nominated for six awards. The project won for best liner notes (written by Martin) and best graphic design. At the club, Martin was joined on stage by the Steep Canyon Rangers, with guest appearances by fellow banjo players Tony Trischka, John McEuen (who produced The Crow) and Pete Wernick. "It's been a longtime dream of mine to play the Station Inn, and tonight I feel one step closer to that goal," he quipped. Martin and his band encored their brief set with "Orange Blossom Special."
