It's Official: LeAnn Rimes' Husband Files for Divorce

She Had Already Announced the End of Their Seven-Year Marriage

LeAnn Rimes' husband, Dean Sheremet, has officially filed for divorce following a three-month separation. He cited "irreconcilable differences" in documents submitted to a Los Angeles court.

Rimes and Sheremet married in February 2002 after becoming acquainted while he was working as a dancer on the 2001 Academy of Country Music Awards show.

This past March, rumors began circulating of Rimes' romantic relationship with Eddie Cibrian, her co-star in a Lifetime movie, Northern Lights, after a surveillance video surfaced of them dining at a Los Angeles restaurant. Cibrian's wife of eight years, model Brandi Glanville, filed for divorce on Aug. 24.

In September, Rimes posted a message on her Web site announcing the end of her seven-year marriage. "This decision was amicable, and we remain committed and caring friends with great admiration for one another," she wrote.

According to People magazine, Sheremet, 29, is asking Rimes, 27, to pay attorney fees and provide spousal support. They have no children. His attorney filed the divorce papers Thursday (Dec. 17) in Los Angeles Superior Court.

In May, Rimes and Sheremet put their Nashville-area home up for sale with an asking price of $7.45 million. He is now reportedly enrolled at the French Culinary Institute in New York City.
