Garth Brooks, Professional Bull Riders Join Forces for Teammates for Kids Charity

Garth Brooks and the Professional Bull Riders Inc. (PBR) have formed a new partnership that aims to raise $1 million in 2010 for the singer's Teammates for Kids charity. Brooks made the announcement Friday morning (Jan. 8) at New York's Madison Square Garden during a press conference that also featured PBR CEO Randy Bernard, three-time PBR World Champion Adriano Moraes and PBR co-founder Ty Murray. Teammates for Kids was founded 11 years ago by Brooks and 67 Major League Baseball players. The nonprofit organization provides financial aid to charities which serve children. It enlists athletes to donate a predetermined sum of money based upon their performance at sporting events. "Having the cowboys of the Professional Bull Riders as our teammates could not make me happier," Brooks said. "They're premiere athletes, and I am grateful for their decision to use their gifts to benefit the kids." The announcement was made on the first day of the PBR's New York City Invitational which runs through Sunday (Jan. 10).
