Patty Griffin Releases Gospel Album, 'Downtown Church'

Patty Griffin released Downtown Church, an album influenced by gospel music, on Tuesday (Jan. 26) on EMI/Credential Recordings. She recorded the album at the historic Downtown Presbyterian Church in Nashville with producer Buddy Miller. Guests include Shawn Colvin, Mike Farris, Emmylou Harris, Jim Lauderdale, Raul Malo, Regina and Ann McCrary and Julie Miller. In addition to her favorite gospel songs and hymns, Griffin also contributed two original songs to the album. She is nominated for a 2010 Grammy for her collaboration with Dierks Bentley on "Beautiful World." Griffin's songs have also been recorded by the Dixie Chicks, Miranda Lambert, Martina McBride, Reba McEntire and the Wreckers.
