The ever-wonderful Dierks Bentley is at it again -- continuing his nationwide Miles & Music for Kids celebrity motorcycle ride and concert series. He's announced he'll be making a stop on Sept. 18 in Seattle. Proceeds will benefit the Seattle Children's Hospital.

After hosting huge Miles & Music events in Nashville, Dierks last year joined forces with Nationwide Insurance, CMT One Country and the Children's Miracle Network to expand the Miles & Music for Kids event to six cities in 2009 and 2010. He's already hosted one in Phoenix, and the next one takes place April 25 in Fort Worth, Texas.

Dierks, the cool dude, has raised more than $1 million for hospitals of the Children's Miracle Network. There's no stopping him. What I'm wondering is how will he ride his steel horse across the Pacific to Hawaii.

Miley Was Raised Better

Miley Cyrus was raised by a dad and mom who love country music. For her, at age 17, to say country music is contrived, it makes me think she's been listening to the wrong station and the wrong people.

Miley could not have been thinking straight when she said in an interview with Parade magazine, "Unless you're wearing a cowboy hat and cowboy boots and singing and whining about your boyfriend or girlfriend leaving you, it's not going to sell. I think that's why my dad finally got out of it."

The last I heard, her father, Billy Ray Cyrus, has not gotten out of country music. At least he hadn't right after Christmas when he performed at the Wildhorse Saloon in Nashville.

She'll Become Carrie Fisher

When the luscious Carrie Underwood weds Canadian hockey man Mike Fisher, she will be Carrie Fisher. Carrie's career is hot as fire, and it's the same for Mike. The 29-year-old Fisher popped the question over Christmas holidays.

Carrie's career is going well, to say the least, and Mike signed a five-year, $21 million contract with the Ottawa Senators in 2007, so money will not be a problem. However, making time for each other will be a challenge. The 27-year-old singer does say there may be a few tough years ahead while he's playing hockey, but she adds, "We love each other, and we'll make it work."

During her spare time these days, Carrie is looking at magazines and tearing out photos of bridal gowns and pasting them into an idea folder. No wedding date has been announced, but Carrie says it will have to be scheduled around hockey season.

I read where Carrie said she loves traditional hymns. Her favorites: "The Old Rugged Cross," "Just as I Am," "Because He Lives" and "How Great Thou Art."

The Kid Is Back in Town

On March 20, Kid Rock and publicist Kirt Webster were seen enjoying filet mignon and lobster at the Palm restaurant in Nashville. Earlier that day, the beautiful Martina McBride added vocals to some tracks Kid Rock was recording in town, and the following night, the lovely Kellie Pickler had supper with him. Kellie's little brother lives with her and is crazy over Kid Rock. Later in the week, the equally beautiful Sheryl Crow added vocals to another track Kid was recording. He and Sheryl did a great job in 2002 with their collaboration on "Picture."

The Kid is a smart one. When he wants good eats and good music, he comes to Music Town and hangs with good friends.

Court Rules in Favor of Roger Miller's Wife

It's been a six-year legal battle for Mary Miller over ownership of the copyrights for songs written by her late husband, the great Roger Miller. It's been determined in U.S. District Court that songs like "King of the Road," "Dang Me," "You Can't Roller Skate in a Buffalo Herd" and other hits Roger wrote belong to his wife and Roger Miller Music, not to Sony/ATV Publishing. Presiding Judge William Haynes said Miller's widow and Roger Miller Music are also owed $900,000 in unpaid royalties.

Colt Ford Chooses Chicken and Biscuits

Colt Ford is a self-made singer with a hankering for mixing up hip-hop with honky-tonk before and after enjoying a plate of biscuits and chicken. So it makes sense that his new album is titled Chicken and Biscuits. Available April 20, the album features several of Colt's buddies (and chicken-and-biscuit eaters) including Randy Houser, James Otto, Darryl Worley and Joe Nichols. Colt is primed and ready and excited. His first album sold over 150,000 units plus another 450,000 in song downloads. And he's proud to say he performed more than 200 concerts last year. A couple of his touring buddies are Jason Aldean and Larry the Cable Guy.

Pennsylvania Governor Honoring Del McCoury

Del McCoury is this year's recipient of the Pennsylvania Governor's Arts Artist of the Year award. Del is a resident of Middle Tennessee these days, but his hometown is York, Pa. He still has a farmhouse near York, where he hosts his music festival, DelFest, every year. The bluegrass great will receive the award on April 8.

Trisha Yearwood's Mac and Cheese

Garth Brooks and wife Trisha Yearwood say their favorite food is macaroni and cheese. Trisha and her mom, Gwen Yearwood, were on Paula Deen's TV Show recently to talk about their second cookbook, Home Cooking With Trisha Yearwood. They shared a recipe made in a crock pot for macaroni and cheese. Wonder if that's what they prefer or if it's the wonderful mac and cheese recipe in their other cookbook, Georgia Cooking in an Oklahoma Kitchen.

Mark Chesnutt has joined forces with Tracy Lawrence and Richie McDonald on the Country Rat Pack tour. Some folks can't sing without ProTools. These three guys never had a reason to try 'em because they can sing without it.
