Rounder Records, the independent roots music label, has been acquired by Concord Music Group. Rounder is celebrating its 40th anniversary in 2010 and will continue to operate in the Boston area. Rounder owners and founders Ken Irwin, Bill Nowlin and Marian Leighton Levy will remain active with the company in a creative and advisory capacity. Rounder’s recent and upcoming releases include Robert Plant and Alison Krauss’ Raising Sand, Willie Nelson’s Country Music and Mary Chapin Carpenter’s The Age of Miracles. Concord Music Group’s catalog includes more than 10,000 master recordings, including rock, jazz and R&B titles on a variety of heritage labels, including Fantasy, Stax, Milestone, Riverside, Specialty and Prestige.
