Veteran music publisher Gary Overton has been named chief executive officer of Sony Music Nashville. He replaces chairman Joe Galante, who announced his departure from the company Wednesday (April 14). Overton has led EMI Music Publishing’s Nashville division since 1995 and most recently served as executive vice president and general manger. During his tenure at EMI, the company signed song publishing deals with several notable artists, including Alan Jackson, Jamey Johnson, Pat Green, Laura Bell Bundy, Sugarland’s Kristian Bush and Lady Antebellum’s Hillary Scott. Sony Music Nashville’s operations include the RCA, BNA, Columbia and Arista Nashville labels and an artist roster that includes Jackson, Kenny Chesney, Carrie Underwood, Brooks & Dunn, Brad Paisley and others.
