HOT DISH: Congratulations to Carrie Underwood and Hubby Mike Fisher

More News About Miranda Lambert, Vince Gill, Brad Paisley, Blake Shelton and Others

(CMT Hot Dish is a weekly feature written by veteran columnist Hazel Smith. Author of the cookbook, Hazel's Hot Dish: Cookin' With Country Stars, she also hosts CMT's Southern Fried Flicks With Hazel Smith and shares her recipes at CMT.com.)

By now, you and the rest of the world are well aware that Carrie Underwood married her hockey-playing man, Mike Fisher, during a private ceremony Saturday (July 10) at a luxury resort in Greensboro, Ga.

On behalf of all you fans and all of us here at CMT, let me offer our best wishes to the couple as they begin their new life together. We believe she made a great choice for a husband in Mike. All of us send lots of love and prayers for them to enjoy many blessings in the years to come.

I remember in 2005 when "Jesus, Take the Wheel" became the Oklahoma beauty's first No. 1 single. It is my belief that in a marriage, it takes three. So it's my hope that the bride and groom, like in the song, will give Jesus the wheel as they enter forever together.

Country Radio Stations Now Streaming in NYC

It gives me a wonderful feeling to know country radio is once again finding a place in New York City. No, there's still not a terrestrial radio station playing country music in the Big Apple, but two new internet stations are now up and running in their effort to attract country listeners in the big city. WOR-AM (a New York talk station) has introduced a country stream at http://worcountry.com. And KKGO, a terrestrial country station located in Los Angeles, is now streaming at http://gocountryny.com. Of course, you don't have to be in New York to listen to either of the stations.

There must be over a million smart listeners in New York hungry for Brad Paisley, Miranda Lambert, Blake Shelton, Reba McEntire, Keith Urban, Kenny Chesney, Toby Keith and all the others. There's enough music to go around for all the honest-to-goodness country fans. Nashville has plenty of newcomers, too, who are ready to be heard. I don't claim to be smart, but it makes sense to get our music heard and sold in every city in the U.S. before we try to take on the world.

Go country and stay country, New York! We need you.

Brad Paisley at AquaPalooza

By the time you read this, you'll know that my friend Brad Paisley took the stage Saturday (July 10) at Lake Travis near Austin, Texas, for the signature event of AquaPalooza 2010. Boy, was Brad ever right when he insisted that "Water" be his single for this summer. It's spending its second week at No. 1 on Billboard's country songs chart.

Vince and Amy's Holiday Tour

Vince Gill and Amy Grant's Twelve Days of Christmas tour is set to begin on Dec. 8 in Sarasota, Fla. Amy says, "Christmas audiences are special. They tend to involve the whole family." The couple will close the tour in Nashville with a two-nighter at the Ryman Auditorium on Dec. 21-22.

Charlie Louvin Ailing

Country Music Hall of Fame member Charlie Louvin is scheduled to undergo surgery later this month after being diagnosed with pancreatic cancer. He was inducted into the Hall of Fame in 2001 as part of the duo, the Louvin Brothers. His musical partner, Ira Louvin, was killed in a car accident in 1965. Charlie's daughter, Kathy Louvin, is a well-known Nashville songwriter.

We're pulling for you, Charlie.

Dolly Speaks Up for Miley

Dolly Parton spoke up for Miley Cyrus after recent reports of the teenager's risqué performances and lack of clothing. Says Dolly, "If you think I'm going to sit here and pass judgment on Miley, you're wrong. I think she's beautiful. I love her. She's trying to grow up, you know." Then Dolly added, "I remember when I was young and horny."

Blake Shelton Gets Another Six Pak

Blake Shelton's newest Six Pak release, All About Tonight will be available everywhere on Aug. 10. With six new tracks from Miranda Lambert's man, I can hardly wait to hear. And, yes, he does have a duet with Miranda called "Draggin' the River."

The Judds' Last Encore tour will offer fans an opportunity for special ticket packages that include premium seating and a meet-and-greet with Wynonna and Naomi Judd. The tour begins Nov. 26 in Green Bay, Wis., and wraps up in Phoenix on Dec. 19.

Miranda Lambert Rolls On

On the heels of her monster No. 1 hit, "The House That Built Me," Miranda Lambert is ready to slather her Texas charm all over her new single, "Only Prettier." Co-written by Miranda and Natalie Hemby, the new single is from Lambert's Revolution, the ACM's album of the year. Miranda calls the song her anthem and hopes all the girls will have their fists in the air singing "Only Prettier" with her. She took the equally-pretty Kellie Pickler, Laura Bell Bundy and Lady Antebellum's Hillary Scott with her to Joelton, Tenn., where they shot the video.
