Buddy Miller Concludes Hall of Fame Series With Shawn Colvin, Emmylou Harris

Buddy Miller welcomed longtime friends Shawn Colvin, Emmylou Harris and Jim Lauderdale to conclude his artist-in-residence series at the Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum in Nashville on Tuesday night (Aug. 24). Colvin and Miller performed "Let It Be Me," "Poison Love" and "That's the Way Love Goes," while Colvin also sang her own "Diamond in the Rough." In addition, Harris took the lead on "Love and Happiness" and "Red Dirt Girl," while trading verses with Miller on the 1971 Porter Wagoner-Dolly Parton duet, "Burning the Midnight Oil." Earlier in the night, Lauderdale and Miller partnered for "Hold On My Love," "Hole in My Head," "Love in the Ruins" and "Don't Wait." Miller's set list also included "Does My Ring Burn Your Finger," "Gasoline and Matches," "Chalk" and "Wide River to Cross," as well as a gentle cover of Stephen Bruton's "Heart of Hearts." Miller concluded the evening with "All My Tears," written by his wife, Julie Miller. As artist-in-residence, Miller had performed at the museum on Aug. 10 and 17 and was encouraged to choose his own set lists and collaborators. Prior performances featured Lee Ann Womack, Tom T. Hall, singer-songwriter Patty Griffin, guitarist Bill Frisell and the soulful vocals of the McCrary Sisters.
