Dixie Chicks’ Natalie Maines Singing at Arkansas Rally on Saturday

Dixie Chicks singer Natalie Maines will perform an acoustic set to support the West Memphis Three on Saturday (Aug. 28) in Little Rock, Ark. Eddie Vedder and other special guests will also perform at the Voices for Justice rally at Robinson Center Music Hall. Tickets are $25. Damien Echols, Jason Baldwin and Jessie Misskelley, now known as the West Memphis Three, were convicted in 1994 of murdering three 8-year-old boys in West Memphis, Ark. However, Maines and Vedder have been outspoken about their belief that the men are innocent and should be released from prison. Maines was sued for defamation in 2008 by the stepfather of one of the murdered children after alleging that some of her comments implied that he was involved in the murder. However, a federal court ruled in April that she did not defame him and ordered him to pay her attorney and court fees of $17,590, according to the Arkansas Democrat-Gazette newspaper.
