CMA Fest’s Artists Take to Twitter During TV Special

Wouldn’t it be funny if you couldn’t get to a TV for a big show and all you had to go on was Twitter ? That’s what happened to me during the CMA Music Festival: Country’s Night to Rock last night (Sept. 1) on ABC. Fortunately, there were some official Twitterers during the three-hour show so I could live vicariously through them. Although with Twitter’s character limit, it’s not like the artists could paint a super vivid picture of what was happening. Zac Brown Band said things likeBrad Paisley is so consistent I bet he even looks like that when he showers” and “A.J. is a pimp!” Whatever that means. Keith Urban, who I suspect may not actually be Keith Urban, tweeted , “Are you guys watching? I’m on, jamming out right now…” Blake Shelton, who is pretty much country music’s mayor of Twitter, tweeted , “As a male vocalist of the year nominee I’d like to take this opportunity to say… #screwpeta.” All Lady Antebellum had to say was “What a way to kick off CMA Music Fest on ABC with @keithurban ….such an amazing entertainer!!!” Dierks Bentley wasn’t on the clock for the CMAs, but he’s always good for a laugh, so I checked out his page where he’d posted a picture of a man holding a baby up to Bentley mid-concert and he tweeted “sorry sir, we don’t trade children for cold beer…”

Alison makes her living loving country music. She's based in Chicago, but she's always leaving her heart in Nashville.
