James Otto Hospitalized, Cancels Two Concerts

Singer-songwriter James Otto has canceled two concerts after being admitted to a Nashville-area hospital Tuesday (Sept. 7) for treatment of an abdominal illness. The cancellations are a Friday (Sept. 10) appearance in Clarksville, Tenn., and a Saturday (Sept. 11) in Berea, Ohio. His wife, Amy, delivered their first child, daughter Ava Katherine Otto, on Aug. 24. In a statement on his website, Otto said, "I have been feeling badly on and off for a while now but didn't think it was serious. Plus, I may have been a bit distracted by all the excitement of baby Ava's arrival. I'll be down for a few days but hope to be back in action and on the road again soon." He's scheduled to resume touring with a Sept. 17 concert with Blake Shelton at the Kansas State Fair in Hutchinson, Kan. His new album, Shake What God Gave Ya, will be released Tuesday (Sept. 14).
