Quick Pecan Roll

2 cups plain flour
4 teaspoons baking powder
½ teaspoon salt
4 tablespoons shortening
2/3 cup milk
3 tablespoons butter
2 cups brown sugar
1 cup chopped pecans
½ cup butter, softened

Preheat oven to 375°.

Sift flour, salt and baking powder. Mix in shortening by rubbing with fingers. Add 2/3 cup of milk. Form a ball and roll out on floured board to one inch thick. Blend 3 tablespoons butter with one cup of the brown sugar and spread over rolled dough. Roll dough as for jelly roll and cut into 1 ½-inch slices. Blend the ½ cup butter with remaining cup of brown sugar. Place one teaspoon of the butter/brown sugar mixture in the bottom of each cup of a well-greased muffin pan. Sprinkle with a few pecans and place a slice of the dough on the pecans in each cup. Bake at 375° for 20 minutes.
