Sara Evans Is Back — and More Than a Little Stronger

The song’s called “A Little Bit Stronger.” But after seeing the video, Sara Evans may want to rename it “A Whole Lot Stronger.” She sounds flawless, better than she ever has. The song is good, but the way she pulls so much emotion out of the lyrics with her performance in the video just makes it so moving. She’s getting over a breakup, staring out the window, web chatting with the heartbreaker, crying on her pillow, driving in the rain. Really sad stuff. But by the end, her weepy look gives way to the slightest hint of a hopeful smile, and you know time will heal all her wounds. Lady Antebellum’s Hillary Scott penned the tune with Luke Laird and Hillary Lindsey, and Evans loved it from the get-go. “Everybody’s gone through some sort of heartbreak, whether it’s losing someone to death or just breaking up with somebody that you were in love with,” she said. “The very first line says, ’Woke up late today, and I still feel the sting of the pain.’ … We’ve all been there, where we wake up and for just a second, we forgot, and then all of a sudden we remember and it just comes flooding back.”

Alison makes her living loving country music. She's based in Chicago, but she's always leaving her heart in Nashville.
