OFFSTAGE: Trace Adkins' Hat Hangs in the Bunny House

(CMT Offstage keeps a 24/7 watch on everything that's happening with country music artists behind the scenes and out of the spotlight.)

You know that cowboy hat Trace Adkins is wearing in his video for "This Ain't No Love Song"? Guess where it is right now. In the Bunny House across the street from the Playboy Mansion. And here's the story of how it got there, as told to me by Playboy's Playmate of the month for January 2010, Jaime Edmondson: "Tiffany Fallon recommended me for the part in this video. She's Joe Don Rooney's wife. But I was nervous because I'm a 30-year-old redhead, not a typical young blond you'd normally see in a video like this. So I got there for the shoot at about 7 a.m., and was in hair and makeup, and they'd just put curlers in my hair. And then I hear that voice. Immediately I thought, 'I do NOT want him to see me without my makeup!' But he just said, 'Hello, I'm Trace.' And I thought, 'That is a MAN.' When it was time for me to shoot my first scene, on that leather couch, he sat in the director's chair because he wanted to watch. It was very nerve wracking. After that, though, I felt like I could be myself. We only shot one scene together, at the end, but we were both there until 11 at night. The whole thing was so much fun. We laughed a lot. There was no pressure. And Trace was so friendly to me and to everyone on set. At the end of the night, he said 'Thank you' and gave me his cowboy hat. Like a true gentleman." Edmondson now has it displayed where she lives in the Bunny House.
