OFFSTAGE: Meet and Photograph Taylor Swift

(CMT Offstage keeps a 24/7 watch on everything that's happening with country music artists behind the scenes and out of the spotlight.)

Concert photography is one of the most hard-to-understand passions ever. I mean, you take about 100 pictures, and most of them are pretty mediocre while some are downright terrible. But then there's that one shot -- the one that makes the other 99 irrelevant. For me, that shot was the one I took of one of Taylor Swift performing two years ago outside Soldier Field in Chicago. She's on her knees, looking out at the crowd, and the light is hitting her hair just right.

If you have that same kind of passion for taking photographs, Taylor Guitars (no relation to Swift) have launched a contest. You get all the good stuff, like airfare, accommodations, tickets and a meet-and-greet for a Swift show and an autographed Taylor Swift Signature Model Baby Taylor guitar. But you also get a Sony TX9 digital camera and a lesson on how to use it. And then you get to shoot Swift from the photo pit right in front of the stage during the concert. For one song, anyway. But you can take a lot of pictures in roughly four minutes. The contest runs through Dec. 15.
