OFFSTAGE: Zac Brown on NASCAR and Bad Concert Food

(CMT Offstage keeps a 24/7 watch on everything that’s happening with country music artists behind the scenes and out of the spotlight.)

What do we really know about Zac Brown, other than that he likes his chicken fried and he doesn’t want to fall in love as she’s walking away? Well, now we know he is allegedly a diehard UFC and WFC fan, too. That’s what he told the Miami Herald last week when he was getting ready to do a show at NASCAR’S Ford Championship Drive event. He also told the newspaper, “I don’t have time to immerse myself in sports since we perform in the afternoons and evenings. But I appreciate NASCAR and the drivers. To be up close and on the track definitely changes your perspective.” Then Brown talked about his rationale for starting his own pre-concert food fests. “There’s no good food [at concerts]. They overcharge, and it doesn’t come through,” he said. And he’s definitely right about that. Nothing says “live country concert” more than a stone-cold hot dog on a stale bun that you wash down with a room-temperature beer for around $20.
