OFFSTAGE: 'Glee' May Play a Country Chord

(CMT Offstage keeps a 24/7 watch on everything that's happening with country music artists behind the scenes and out of the spotlight.)

I knew I loved that new blond guy on Glee the minute I laid eyes on him. And no, not because of his chiseled features, his messy-on-purpose hair or his God-given gift for singing like he means it. He plays high-schooler Sam Evans on the show, but in real life, his name is Chord Overstreet. And he's from Nashville and the son of singer-songwriter Paul Overstreet. As if that isn't enough reason to dig the new guy, he thinks Glee needs to go a little more country. And the music supervisor for the show, PJ Bloom, agreed. Kind of. "I'm all for the country episode. We've touched on the genre a bit (pre-Chord, unfortunately), but I bet we'll go there for real at some point and dedicate an entire episode," Bloom told Vanity Fair. "Believe me, my boys and girls down in Nashville hammer on me all the time about it."
