OFFSTAGE: Glee May Play a Country Chord

(CMT Offstage keeps a 24/7 watch on everything that’s happening with country music artists behind the scenes and out of the spotlight.)

I knew I loved that new blond guy on Glee the minute I laid eyes on him. And no, not because of his chiseled features, his messy-on-purpose hair or his God-given gift for singing like he means it. He plays high-schooler Sam Evans on the show, but in real life, his name is Chord Overstreet. And he’s from Nashville and the son of singer-songwriter Paul Overstreet. As if that isn’t enough reason to dig the new guy, he thinks Glee needs to go a little more country. And the music supervisor for the show, PJ Bloom, agreed. Kind of. “I’m all for the country episode. We’ve touched on the genre a bit (pre-Chord, unfortunately), but I bet we’ll go there for real at some point and dedicate an entire episode,” Bloom told Vanity Fair . “Believe me, my boys and girls down in Nashville hammer on me all the time about it.”
