OFFSTAGE: Taylor Swift Dabbled in Grandma’s Makeup

(CMT Offstage keeps a 24/7 watch on everything that’s happening with country music artists behind the scenes and out of the spotlight.)

Taylor Swift experimented with her grandmother’s and mother’s makeup when she was a little girl with pretty bad results, just like every other kid out there. In this video on E! Online , she says, “I thought it was OK to put black eye shadow all the way from your lash to your eyebrow. And that’s just not OK. I looked like a zombie.” The makeup look she’s settled into now is a bold eyeliner line, minimal eye shadow and a dark lip. Much, much better than the zombie eyes of her youth, I think. Now that she’s the face of a new line of CoverGirl called NatureLuxe, the self-described makeup junkie gets to experiment all over again with all the CoverGirl she wants. I personally started experimenting with CoverGirl right around 1979, when they introduced their revolutionary Professional Mascara in the blue tube with the curved brush, and I’m still using it today.

Alison makes her living loving country music. She's based in Chicago, but she's always leaving her heart in Nashville.
