OFFSTAGE: Jennifer Nettles Books Solo Show

(CMT Offstage keeps a 24/7 watch on everything that’s happening with country music artists behind the scenes and out of the spotlight.)

Uh-oh, I hope like hell this doesn’t mean what I think it means. Sugarland’s front girl Jennifer Nettles is doing a solo show on Jan. 15 in Denton, Texas. She said on the band’s website that “in the spirit of spreading the love and sharing the warmth, I will be performing a benefit concert for one of my dearest charities, Attic Community Playground .” It’s an organization that supports the performing arts, which Nettles said gave her self-confidence as a kid. That part I get. Then she says the show will be an intimate solo performance. So, no Kristian Bush? Why not include the duo’s other half at a great show like this? Who will play the mandolin? And sing harmony? Perhaps he just had a conflict. Yes, let’s go with that, because I hate to think of the alternative — that Nettles doing a show on her own is a sign of things to come.

Alison makes her living loving country music. She's based in Chicago, but she's always leaving her heart in Nashville.
