OFFSTAGE: Asian Tour Thrills Taylor Swift, Angers Kuh Ledesma

(CMT Offstage keeps a 24/7 watch on everything that’s happening with country music artists behind the scenes and out of the spotlight.)

“It’s one of the most amazing experiences — the process of writing a song in a really quiet room, in your bedroom, or in your tour bus. Or just some place where it’s just you and that song. And then feeling what it feels like to hear the echoes of that song off the walls at the stadium. It’s just unbelievable,” Taylor Swift said in a radio interview recently. Because her tour kicks off in Asia on Feb. 9, I’m sure she’s going to love hearing all her songs bounce off the walls in venues in Singapore, Korea, Japan, Hong Kong and the Philippines. But one girl who will not love it so much is Filipino pop star Kuh Ledesma. She wants concerts with international stars like Swift to be regulated. How, she doesn’t say. But she says it’s to protect the interests of Filipino artists. I have a feeling if America’s pop fans was clamoring for Ledesma to tour the U.S., she might feel a little differently.
