OFFSTAGE: Idol Will Look So Good in Nashville

(CMT Offstage keeps a 24/7 watch on everything that’s happening with country music artists behind the scenes and out of the spotlight.)

I’m biased, I know, but the country singers just stand out the most on the American Idol auditions. Obviously, that’s partly because of the Carrie Underwood influence. But it’s also because the songs the contestants are singing are the ones I love the most. Thursday night’s (Jan. 27) episode showcases all the singing talent in Nashville. Even season nine runner-up Crystal Bowersox is dipping her toe into a country sound with her new album/song/video called “Farmer’s Daughter.” Bowersox has said that being on Idol changed her entire life and that of her family. “It was the three of us living in the studio apartment,” she told CMT Radio. “You know, my kid doesn’t want for anything right now. I’m so blessed because there’s so many children out there and families who are struggling right now. I don’t forget for a second how lucky I am to be where I am.”

Alison makes her living loving country music. She's based in Chicago, but she's always leaving her heart in Nashville.
