OFFSTAGE: Brad Paisley’s Latest Masterpiece Sold for $5,500

There are probably all kind of Brad Paisley fans who would pay big bucks for one of his original oil paintings. But would you pay even more to watch him actually painting the painting? You bet. And someone did just that Friday night (Feb. 11) at a Nashville Film Festival fundraiser. One lucky (and presumably wealthy) guest paid $5,500 to take the painting home. Paisley told People he painted the background at home and then did the rest during the cocktail portion of the fundraiser. He and his wife Kimberly Williams-Paisley were the celebrity co-hosts of the event, and Rascal Flatts’ Joe Don Rooney and Jay DeMarcus were there, as well. So while guests dined on oysters with vodka and pearls, acorn squash soup, red velvet tartare and black chocolate macaroons, Paisley was at work painting a black evergreen tree in front of a sky of graduated color that fades from red to orange to yellow. I knew he was an artistic man with words and music, but I had no idea he had this kind of masterpiece inside him.
