OFFSTAGE: Craig Campbell Wants to Pay Your Mortgage

(CMT Offstage keeps a 24/7 watch on everything that’s happening with country music artists behind the scenes and out of the spotlight.)

If you know someone who is an everyday hero, country singer Craig Campbell wants to be your hero. It’s part of his Give a Hand to the Family Man contest where you just write a heartfelt essay about why you (or your family man) is an everyday hero and deserves this prize. Just 150 words or less — and you could win a prize that’s worth up to $18,000. (That’s $1,500 a month, so no fair running out and buying LeAnn Rimes’ Nashville-area estate even though the price has been slashed to the $6.2 million range.) “My wife and I have struggled over the years to pay our bills, and so we know what it’s like to work hard to make ends meet for your family and still come up short at the end of the month,” Campbell said about the contest. “So I’m really excited to celebrate the ultimate family man or woman and help pay their mortgage for the next year.” There are other prizes, too, like albums and autographs and The Home Depot gift cards. But let Campbell’s video for “Family Man” inspire you to go for the big grand prize. Keep in mind, though, that sometimes the best everyday heroes are not family men. They’re women.
