OFFSTAGE: Two Weeks of Taylor Swift in Nine Minutes

(CMT Offstage keeps a 24/7 watch on everything that's happening with country music artists behind the scenes and out of the spotlight.)

Sparks fly, indeed. Taylor Swift has posted a nine-minute video of her Asian adventures. She was there from Feb. 6 through Feb. 22, but from the looks of the video, she packed about a year of travel into those two weeks. After the 18-hour flight to Singapore, she greeted fans, played a show and shopped Chinatown for little waving cats and yazz flutes (on which she then played "Love Story" like she'd been playing the instrument all her life). Then it was off to South Korea, Japan, Tokyo, the Philippines and Hong Kong. Swift gives her background vocalist Liz a haircut, they dress up like geishas, then she gives her fiddler Caitlin a haircut (while Caitlin says a quick "Our Father"), they go to a beach, and they burst into song when Jordin Sparks' "Battlefield" comes on in the middle of a Japanese department store. (The department store scene isn't actually in the video, but she tweeted about it, so I know it happened.) Swift ends the video with an "I love you Asia" and an urge to vote for her for the ACM entertainer of the year. When she heads to Belgium for a March 6 show in Brussels, I hope she has new batteries for her video camera.
