OFFSTAGE: Sara Evans Says DWTS Gives Men an Unfair Advantage

(CMT Offstage keeps a 24/7 watch on everything that’s happening with country music artists behind the scenes and out of the spotlight.)

Now that the upcoming Dancing With the Stars cast as been announced, Sara Evans has a few things to say about one of the big injustices of the show. And it’s a girl thing. Like how men have an unfair advantage. “It’s so unfair on Dancing With the Stars because when the men celebrities are competing, all you look at is the female. So nobody really watches them. And then when you see the women stars competing, you’re expecting them to look like the females, and they just can’t,” Evans said during a recent radio interview. She would know because she was a contestant on the show in 2006. This year’s contestants include a motley crew of folks like Kirstie Alley, Sugar Ray Leonard, Ralph Macchio and my personal favorite (because she seems like a lot of fun AND she loves country music), Kendra Wilkinson, former girlfriend of Hugh Hefner. DWTS premieres on March 21. Cross your fingers that Wilkinson chooses a few country songs to dance to.

Alison makes her living loving country music. She's based in Chicago, but she's always leaving her heart in Nashville.
