OFFSTAGE: Flatts Fest: Let the Games Begin

(CMT Offstage keeps a 24/7 watch on everything that’s happening with country music artists behind the scenes and out of the spotlight.)

Is live country music all you need? Is it still enough? I mean, personally, I could make a living out of loving it. But some fans may want more out of their concert experience. And I’m guessing that’s why Rascal Flatts have created this whole new way of touring called Flatts Fest. They are going to do about 24 shows that will be more festival than straight-up concert. So you could feasibly fill your day with interactive fun before the music even starts. Like singing your heart out at the mobile karaoke machine or jumping into a photo booth with friends or playing a round of miniature golf and maybe even taking in some local flavors from the town. So it’s kind of like tailgating — but better — and more about having fun than just drinking the afternoon away. The fests kick off with Sara Evans, Justin Moore and Easton Corbin on June 18 in Virginia and will be unstoppable until the tour wraps in California on Sept. 18.

Alison makes her living loving country music. She's based in Chicago, but she's always leaving her heart in Nashville.
