OFFSTAGE: Sugarland Voted Onto American Idol

(CMT Offstage keeps a 24/7 watch on everything that’s happening with country music artists behind the scenes and out of the spotlight.)

When American Idol airs one of their bittersweet results shows this Thursday (March 24), Sugarland will be there. And because it’s Sugarland, you know they’ll keep things interesting. “We always like to give an exciting performance, whether it’s something like ’All I Wanna Do’ and we fall off the back of a crazy platform, or if it’s ’Stay’ where it’s just the two of us standing out there playing,” the duo says. “We definitely try to serve the song in its visual performance as well, and especially on television.” I’m not sure if they’ll do their brand new “Little Miss” or if they’ll stick with “Stuck Like Glue,” but I do know they’ll bring a lot of positive energy to that stage. And what an excellent example they’ll set for the remaining Idol hopefuls. Even though Sugarland has never performed on the show, I’m assuming they are big fans of it, because they have former American Idol finalist Casey James out on the road with them right now.
